Additional information

A series of free, outdoor dance classes hosted by The Dance Complex and the City of Cambridge. This series will offer 4 classes in a variety of styles to get you moving! Dance with us every Thursday from 6:00-7:00pm throughout the month of August.

BollyX, The Bollywood Workout with Fen Tung, Thursday, August 8, Cambridge Common -- BollyX is a Bollywood-inspired cardio dance fitness workout that's set to the hottest beats from India! Take a break from work, shake off stress, get your heart pumping and come unleash your inner rockstar! This class is open to all fitness levels, no dance experience necessary - it’s not about getting moves right or wrong, but about celebrating movement and music! We recommend having water on hand and wearing sneakers and loose comfortable clothes.

Haitian Folkloric Dance with Velouse Joseph of Jean Appolon Expressions, August 15, Greene-Rose Heritage Park -- Join Jean Appolon Expressions (JAE) for an outdoor Haitian Folklore Dance class led by company dancer Velouse Joseph. This class is accessible to all levels and delves into the fundamental rhythms of Haitian Folklore. Bring shoes for dancing outdoors!

Beginner Bollywood with Swati Tiwari of Boston Bollywood, August 22, Riverside Press Park -- Learn choreography to a high energy Bollywood song while focusing on common dance moves used in Bollywood. Bring water and wear comfy clothes you can move easily in. This class will be moderate to high cardio. 

Moving to Connect with Meghan McLyman, August 29, Joan Lorentz Park -- This class draws from a variety of modern/contemporary dance techniques, somatic practices, and anatomical fundamentals to find connectivity within the body. We will connect inner sensation to the outer environment through improvisational explorations and set choreography in a fun, mindful, and joyful dance experience. Open to all levels, ages 10 - 100.
