We are a youth workforce development program for out-of-school youth ages 16 - 24 from Boston Metro North communities. Students work towards their HiSET while developing workforce readiness skills.
Sign-up Information
Ages: 16 to Young Adult.
Must be between 16 and 24 years old on the first day of the program, a US citizen or permanent resident, and live in Cambridge, Chelsea, Somerville, Everett, Revere, Malden, or other cities or towns in the Metro North region.
Refreshments provided.
Wheelchair accessible.

Fall 2023 Session registration runs until September 29th. To register, we request that you attend an Info Session to learn about our program structure, student support services, and the application process. Please fill out our Inquiry Form to signup. This Program is free!
Participants can earn up to $150 per week depending on attendance.

We provide free MBTA passes monthly for participants.
Dates and Times
This is an ongoing program.
Monday and Tuesday and Thursday and Friday.
For 4 days/week we run 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. We offer 2 sessions each year. This year:
- Fall Session = October 30 - August 30.
- Spring Session = April 29 - December 27.
On Monday holidays programming moves to Wednesday.
Additional information
This program includes: HiSET academic classes; case management support; career training (construction or retail/customer service); socio-emotional development; and personal finance lessons.
YouthBuild Just A Start is a comprehensive youth workforce development program for out of school youth that provides education leading to a high school credential; career exploration and employment skills training; and leadership and life skill building. Through their construction and retail/customer service training and community service work, youth gain work skills leading to industry recognized credentials, as well as applied academic skills. The program also provides comprehensive guidance, counseling, case management, and support services.
