Additional information

Transition House is a leader in the field addressing domestic violence intervention and prevention. We serve people of all ages and backgrounds as we work toward social equity and system change to end the perpetuation of gender based violence. With deep roots in Cambridge, Massachusetts for over 40 years, our model advances cross-sector partnerships so that ending violence is embraced as a shared responsibility and an ongoing priority.

Emergency Shelter
Our Emergency Shelter serves 9 families at a time and offers a caring, trauma-informed community and on-site clinical support with 24/7 staffing. The Shelter is a converted home where all residents share a fully ADA accessible common kitchen, 4 common baths, and indoor and outdoor play spaces. The shelter is open and operating at capacity and the 24/7 hotline is operating as normal. DV only increases when people are quarantined and isolated and encourages providers to listen for increases in violence and risk.  Please call 857-777-6724 for crisis intervention and safety planning.

Transitional & Permanent Supported Housing
Our longer term Transitional Housing is designed for individuals and families who have experienced domestic violence and cannot yet access safe, affordable housing. Our Permanent Supported Housing resource is for survivors who also have a disability. In both models, residents live in scattered site apartments and access a range of support services as they become increasingly resilient and economically stable.

Special Announcement:

The city of Cambridge is hoping to hear from survivors of color about their experience with violence, local resources, and ways to better serve your community.  We'd like to pass this opportunity along to you to have your voice heard.  Your participation is a great help to the city. Please take this survey if you are a person of color in Cambridge. Your input will help create a safer Cambridge and provide support for survivors.

A link to the survey can be found here. You can choose your language and decide to take it online or print out a copy and drop it off at a drop box at the main Cambridge Public Library location. Arabic and Bengali translations of the survey are only available in print version and can be dropped off at the library after completion. If you have any follow-up questions please reach out.

You can also use the QR code to access a copy of the survey online by using the QR attached to the top of this page. The survey will close on May 27th, 2022.
