Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP)

We offer summer jobs to Cambridge teens, from age 14 through the summer after they graduate high school.

Application required

  • Specific dates

To be considered an on-time applicant, you must apply between April 10 and April 26. After that, the portal will remain open for late applications until July 1. The application for MSYEP must be completed online through a system called TraxSolutions. Program is not first-come, first served. All applicants who apply by the deadline will be considered, priority is given to lower income youth, until spots are filled. Applications steps are as follows:

  1. Follow the link to the MSYEP Trax Application to apply online.
  2. If you already have a Trax account, log-in.
  3. If you don't already have a Trax account, create one. Verify your email. Complete the household information.
  4. Add your teen child as a participant.
  5. Select Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program from the Activities drop down.
  6. Have your young person work on the MSYEP application.
  7. Electronically sign the MSYEP application and submit. Make sure to click "I'm not a robot!" on the following page.
  8. You will receive a confirmation email. All applicants are placed on the waitlist to start.

Families will be notified between mid-April and the first week of June on a rolling basis.

Location

The program location changes over time.

  • In-person only.

Worksites and other activities are located all over the city. Teens are expected to have make sure they've requested a T Pass through their school and may be required to use it to get to work

Dates and Times

Monday, July 1 – Friday, August 9

Monday through Friday.

Runs July 1 - August 9th this summer. Times vary, but most assignments run between 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM. You will work approximately 4 hours per day. 

Additional information

This is an employment opportunity for teens, they work twenty hours/week, earning minimum wage.
