Additional information
Just A Start currently preserves and maintains nearly 600 affordable apartments across Cambridge that are home to 1,500 residents. Residents benefit from professional property management and Community Coordinators who are dedicated to helping ensure that everyone feels supported and secure at home. Our properties are managed by Maloney Properties and Wingate. JAS also develops affordable homeownership units, sold pursuant to the Affordable Housing Agreement with the City of Cambridge, allowing the City to repurchase the units when resold at a restricted sale price.
*Please note that as affordable housing is limited in Cambridge we often have multi-year wait lists.
There are more than 500 affordable homes in the City of Cambridge. Just A Start works with the City of Cambridge to maintain and re-sell these homes to provide affordable homeownership opportunities to more people. When a current owner decides to sell their home, a new buyer is selected from the Homeownership Resale Pool administered by the City of Cambridge’s Housing Division. Buyers are selected through a lottery process with preference given to Cambridge residents and families with children. If you are interested in affordable homeownership, please visit the City’s website for more information about the affordable homeownership program.
