Hildebrand is a referral only shelter organization, which means families are referred to us through the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), the state agency that manages the Emergency Assistance shelter program. To receive emergency assistance from DHCD, you must qualify to be eligible. Please see the Federal Poverty Guidelines and DHCD's Housing Stabilization Notice to see if you qualify.

For more information, please contact the Division of Housing Stabilization at 617-573-1370, or call toll free at 977-418-3308.

If you are homeless and already receiving Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC), please contact your case worker to determine eligibility for Emergency Assistance Family Shelter. Otherwise, please contact your local DTA Office.

Additional information

Our program is designed to provide respite for families experiencing homelessness. As one of the largest family shelter providers in Massachusetts, in addition to shelter, we offer case management, workshops and trainings, supplemental resources, seasonal support, and more to 126 families.

Hildebrand exclusively accepts families referred by the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). They are welcomed with an orientation providing a complete overview of our program, which includes a description of services, expectations, and a list of resources available through Hildebrand and in the family’s new community. We assign a case manager to the family, and we also have stabilization programs to help families work towards self-sufficiency.

If you are homeless and already receiving Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC), please contact your case worker to determine eligibility for Emergency Assistance Family Shelter. Otherwise, please contact your local DTA Office.
