Students in grades 7-8 are introduced to the concept of AI through self-driving cars. They will learn about AI's benefits and flaws, as we explore the intersection of technology, ethics, & innovation.

Ages: 12 to 14.
Grades 7th grade and 8th grade.
Eligibility is based on grade level (7th-8th). Gender parity amongst the participants is a priority for selection.

Registration opens October 1. Space is limited. Program fills up typically about a month before it begins. Registration form is self-explanatory.

Step into the world of artificial intelligence through the fascinating lens of self-driving cars. Over 13 exciting weeks, you will build your own self-driving car, while exploring topics like ethics, justice, and fairness, that shape AI's impact on society. Imagine a self-driving car at a busy intersection. How does the car respond? In this program, you'll grapple with questions of safety, values, and priorities, discovering how coding choices can ripple through society, either promoting fairness or inadvertently reinforcing biases. Get ready to join a diverse community of young minds, regardless of your background, interests, or gender, as we embark on a journey to become AI Trailblazers and explore the intersection of technology, ethics, and innovation together. Skills Learned: AI fundamentals, coding, ethical considerations in AI, hands-on building.
