Additional information
Rise Above (www.weriseabove.org) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that gives Massachusetts youth in foster care access to extracurricular activities and experiences. The organization fulfills wishes for things like soccer registration, clarinet lessons, laptops, prom expenses, summer camp, bikes and more in order to provide a sense of normalcy and build positive childhood memories for the over 10,000 children and youth in Massachusetts’ foster care system. While many of these typical activities are on hold because of the pandemic, Rise Above is still available to support with bikes and outdoor toys, virtual activities, arts and crafts, and to support with remote learning needs. The program is open to any youth in MA DCF care and custody, as well as youth 18+ who are still involved with DCF. Social workers, foster parents, youth themselves or anyone in a youth's life can complete a request form on Rise Above's website.
