Additional information

We provide services to the City's residents, property owners, neighborhood groups and developers within the following areas:

Planning and Urban Design: To prepare everyone for future growth and change, our activities include near-term projects, such as review of buildings seeking special permits from the Planning Board, and longer-term projects such as the Kendall Square/Central Square Planning Study.

Zoning and Development: We consult with residents, business owners, project developers and other city agencies to discuss zoning regulations or to review proposed development projects as regulated by the Zoning Ordinance.

Parks and Playgrounds: We conduct open space planning and oversee major design, construction and renovation projects for Cambridge's parks, playgrounds, and other open space projects.

Facts and Maps: We compile, use, and publish a a wide range of data sources to develop planning information for department and public use.
