Event Highlights

6:10pm Opening Remarks

  • Emcee 1) welcomes the audience 2) gives brief notes on what the event is about (Ramadan and breaking fast) 3) Who are the organizers 4) Importance of Ramadan for Muslims and mentions not all Muslims are fortunate to practice fasting freely (mentions Uygurs and Burma Muslims are not allowed to fast) 5) Gives a brief overview of the schedule including time for Adhan, and speeches and performances

6:15-6:25: Video Presentation on Ramadan

6:25 – 6:35: Highlights on The Islamic Spirituality 

  • Guest Speaker A present Mawlana brief bio and his Sufi personality and read a poem from Mawlana (both Persian & English). Briefly describes Samah and whirling dervishes

6.40-6.50pm: Whirling Dervish Performance

6.50-7pm: Iftar time. The Emcee invites the muezzin to call for Adhan

7:00 pm Muslims break fast with dates and pray Magreb prayer

7:10 PM Dinner starts. Menu:  Uyghur Plov,  Dried Noodle (Vegetarian), Lentil Soup (Vegan). Sponsors: Silk Road Restaurant and Ayshegul Sister

7:35 PM – The emcee Invites Nicholas to deliver his brief speech on spiritual growth, fasting and Ramadan

  • Guest Speaker B gives a brief speech on importance of spirituality. significance of Ramadan and fasting for spiritual growth, andl reads a poem from African Sufi tradition on fasting.

7:50 The emcee invites guests for brief reflections for ramadan event and/or fasting (preferably invites non-muslim guests)

8 PM The emcee closes the event.

The event celebrates the universal message of love and peace inherent in Islam. We will also explore the significance of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, where Muslims in good health fast from dawn to dark and break their fast by sunset.

Open to All: The event is open to the public of all ages, embracing diversity regardless of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, age, national or ethnic origin, political beliefs, veteran status, or disability.
